Want to see your windows 10 taskbar transparent? At current the basic personalization options in win 10 allow users to keep at its minimal levels but not completely transparent. Luckily there is a hidden option to do this.
You will need to edit the Windows Registry (which is a crucial database which keeps track of many low-level configurations and software). So you are advised to keep a backup of all your important data as editing registry may cause system crashes and data loss.
Go to Start and type Regedit. An editor will open with a list of results, click on it to launch the utility.
From Windows Registry Editor, track the list to find
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Select the "Advanced" key on the left of the windows, right click in empty part of the right side of the window and select New > DWORD (32-bit) value and name it to 'UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency'
Now double-click on the new DWORD value and, set its Value Data field to the number one ("1"). click ok and quit the registry editor.
Now on your Windows 10 desktop, right click on the empty part and select Personalize. You can also do it by Start > Settings > Personalization. Select Colors here.
Enable Make Start, taskbar and action center transparent. Just ensure its effect by enabling or disabling the same. To revert back to win 10 original taskbar color settings, just go to registry editor again, double click on the
UseOLEDTaskbarTransparency entry and change its value to '0' again. After then if you head back to Start > Settings > Personalization and toggle the 'Make Start, taskbar, and action center transparent' option again, your taskbar will return to its original default translucency.
Making taskbar completely transparent
There is a third party tool called as 'Classic Shell' which can work flawlessly to achieve full transparency of taskbar. Just be cautious to use this utility as its been reported to have some bug.
Otherwise, Classic Shell works well most of the time and can easily make your taskbar completely transparent. Just download and install Classic Shell from the link provided and launch the included Classic Menu module and click on the Windows 10 Settings tab. Set appropriate values and choose Transparent. Set Taskbar Opacity values from 0 to 100 where 0 is for completely transparent taskbar and 100 for fully opaque one.
